A Spanish university has developed a new device for a precise measurement of ophthalmic lenses. The technology is based on point diffraction interferometry which provides fringe patterns with a consequent visual information on the optical characteristics of the lens and their local defects. The device can precisely measure spectacle lenses, contact lenses and intraocular lenses. The university is looking for a technical cooperation agreement.
