A Flemish research organization has developed air bearings for extremely high speeds. The diameter x speed (DN) number attained is probably the highest on record for this technology, thanks to an innovative stabilizing system. Possible applications include micro turbines, small compressors, turbo chargers and high-speed milling spindles. The researchers offer technical co-operation for the development of applications, as well as engineering and technical consultancy on this technology.
