A German University institute developed a micro-engineered twisted membrane spacer that improves flat sheet membrane performance by decreasing fouling and the polarisation of concentration in the membranes while increasing the mass transported. Applications are among others in water treatment, food and chemical industry. The spacer is available for demonstration. Producers of membrane modules are sought for license agreements.
