A Dutch engineering group has developed a position actuator for an infrared optical instrument for a large telescope. The position actuator has to be vacuum-compatible, and should be able to operate in an environment with temperatures of about 200 degrees Celsius below zero. The actuator is capable of positioning with accuracies in the micrometer range. The company is looking for a technical-cooperation with companies in the vacuum and/or cryogenic environments.
