A Saxon company has developed a therapy allowing for the renewal of human skin, like for patients with burns or chronic wounds. The technology utilises adult skin stem cells from the outer root sheath of hair, thus making autologous epidermal equivalents. After 4-6 weeks of growth a multilayered, coin-sized patch of skin may be applied to the wound to be closed. The company is looking for medical biotech companies for a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
