A Slovenian research institute together with a university have liquefied wood using different glycols and an acidic catalyst. Such liquefied wood can then be used as a liquid fuel. Advantages over conventional fuels are in using renewable resources, its high energy value, and this fuel can be mixed with ethanol in order to modify viscosity for specific applications. They are looking for companies and research institutes interested in further development and testing of new applications.
